SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- It has been a frustrating two weeks for the residents of the 2400 block of S. Woodstock Street in South Philadelphia.

They got flooded out and lost their water over the July 4th weekend.

But their troubles didn't end there.

"Water department came and figure out a main was broke. Spent the day here repairing that. Approximately a week later, more issues started occurring. More people were getting water. They came back out, allegedly fixed it at that point," resident Brian Pallozzi said.

But around 10:00 p.m. Wednesday, the water department had to shut off the water again as water once again starting filling basements.

"We got water in the basement again. The backhoe was here. When the backhoe left, that's when we lost pressure, and our basement started getting flooded again," resident Gina Smyth said.

It has now receded since Wednesday night.

Two weeks ago, one basement was filled with a foot and a half of water.

The homeowner now has little living space upstairs which is now piled high with stuff salvaged from the basement.

The water department has a private contractor working on it.

On Wednesday, they repaired a service line to one of the houses.

Now it appears, the main may have ruptured again.

Residents say they want it to end now.

"Beyond frustrating for two weeks. It seems it's ongoing where they're putting Band-Aids on top of Band-Aids instead of actually fixing the problem," Pallozzi said.

The water department says they're working on it. A spokesman says sometimes a main break can undermine individual service lines to homes and there's no telling where a problem may pop up next.

They're hoping to have service back to the homes on the block by early Thursday evening.
