TIOGA-NICETOWN (WPVI) -- A 23-year-old motorist is dead following a crash in the Tioga-Nicetown section of Philadelphia.

It happened before 11:00 p.m. Monday on the Roberts Avenue off-ramp from Route 1 North.

Police say the driver was speeding when she exited Route 1. Her car jumped the curb and hit a pole, splitting it in half.

It plunged down an embankment and landed in a 20-foot ditch.

Investigators found several bottles of alcohol were found at the scene.

"They believe both speed and alcohol were contributing factors to this auto accident," Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small told Action News.

Three passengers, including a pregnant woman and two men, were also in the vehicle.

Action News is told all suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
