Police say a 34-year-old woman was shot and killed while sitting in the driver's seat of a car.

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are searching for the gunman who shot a woman while she was inside a car.

The shooting was reported at 11:40 p.m. Wednesday on the 200 block of Westmoreland Street in North Philadelphia.

Officers say the 35-year-old woman was in the driver's seat and at least 11 shots were fired. She was hit in her side and chest, police said.

Her car hit several parked cars before finally coming to a stop.

The victim was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead.

Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said, "The driver's door window had been rolled down, so she may have been talking to someone or involved in some kind of transaction because in this weather, people don't usually drive with their window down."

Police are checking to see if surveillance cameras can help lead them to a suspect.

The woman's identity has not been released.

Philadelphia police remind you there is a $20,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in all homicide investigations.
