Woman assaulted in Wilmington, Delaware

WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- Delaware State Police are investigating a reported assault in Wilmington.

The incident happened before 10 a.m. Thursday.

State troopers were called to the Shell gas station in the 2500 block of Newport-Gap Pike.

They found a 44-year-old woman, who told them she had been attacked on nearby Milltown Road.

Contrary to initial reports, police say, the woman had not been stabbed.

She was taken to Christiana Hospital for treatment of injuries said to be minor.

State police tell Action News they are still working to determine exactly what happened.
