Police say a young man was struck crossing a street in Gloucester Township, New Jersey early Saturday morning.

GLOUCESTER TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- Police say a young man was struck crossing a street in Gloucester Township, New Jersey early Saturday morning.

The incident happened around 1:15 a.m. when the victim was struck crossing the intersection of Somerdale and Stonegate Roads.

He was propelled in the air and thrown several yards and landed on a lawn on the 700 block of Somerdale.

The victim was suffering from injuries to his head and torso, police say.

Medics rushed him by ambulance to Cooper University Hospital.

He is listed in critical condition.

The driver stopped at the scene and was not injured.

So far, there is no word on any charges.

The identities of the driver and pedestrian are not being released at this time, pending family notifications.
