PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are searching for the young suspects involved in at least one armed robbery in South Philadelphia.

The incident happened around 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday on the 1500 block of South 13th Street.

A 32-year-old male told police he was working behind the counter at the Susan's grocery store when one of two males walked towards the counter and pulled out a gun.

He said the suspect then pointed the gun at the head of a 74-year-old employee who was sweeping in front of the counter.

The suspect also pointed the gun at the victim behind the counter and then tossed a black backpack at him.

The victim says he then opened the register and placed money inside the bag.

Both the suspects fled on foot with $500. They fled eastbound on Dickinson Street towards 12th Street.

The first suspect is described as a black male in his 20's, 6'0" tall, thin build, medium complexion and clean shaven.

He was wearing a black/gray camo hooded coat, black Polo shirt with white stripes and a red shirt underneath.

The second suspect is described as a black male, early teens, average build, short hair, light complexion and clean shaven.

He was wearing a black hooded coat, dark pants, and gray hooded sweatshirt. He was carrying a blue/gray Penn State backpack.

Police are looking into the possibility that the incident is connected to another robbery that took place on Christmas day.

That incident happened around 2:20 p.m. at Joe's Food Market II located on the 1900 block of East Passyunk Avenue.

The 39-year-old victim told police, a black male entered the store and threw a black backpack onto the floor.

He says the suspect then pulled out a black handgun and demanded that he put cash in the backpack.

The victim says he refused and reached under the counter and the suspect then fled the store without getting anything while leaving the backpack behind.

The suspect is described a black male, 17-years-old, 5'10" tall. He was wearing a black/white plaid jacket gray hood.

There were no injuries reported in either incident.

Anyone with information on the identity of the suspects are asked to contact South Detective Division at 215-686-3093/3094 or call 911.
