NEW CASTLE, Del. (WPVI) -- A pedestrian is hospitalized in serious condition after being struck by a vehicle in New Castle, Delaware.

It happened around 7 a.m. Friday on Frenchtown Road near Center Point Boulevard.

New Castle County Police tell Action News a man in his 20s was crossing the highway when he was struck by a car.

He was taken to an area hospital to be treated for injuries described as serious.

The driver of the car stopped nearby.

New Castle County Police remained on the scene, working to determine what led to the accident.
