Pasadena Human Society gets 2nd massive mystery donation in days
For the second time in a matter days, the Pasadena Humane Society and SPCA was handed some major money by a mystery donor.

PASADENA, Calif. -- For the second time in a matter of days, the Pasadena Humane Society and SPCA was handed some major money by a mystery donor.

It was a bark of gratitude from one cute canine after the shelter found another anonymous donation on Saturday.

"My mouth was hanging open when we realized that we had a second anonymous donation put in our donation box. It was crazy," said Julie Bank, president and CEO of the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA, located in Pasadena, California.

After receiving an anonymous phone call from a woman saying they should check the donation box, workers found a white envelope with $2,000 in $100 bills. With it, they found a heartfelt handwritten note.

The note read in part: "I got the inspiration last week. Please save the animals. For some of us, it's all we have left."

"To that amazing person who left it there, you really are a hero to the animals," Bank added.

Just a few day earlier, PHS found its donation box stuffed with $8,000 in cash by another mystery donor.

"They just want to give out of the bottom of their heart and want others to give too. And I think maybe it's starting a trend, and we hope that's the case because that's how we function is through donations like this," Bank said.

The Pasadena Humane Society takes in near 12,000 animals every year. Their operating budget is $10 million, funded all through donations big and small. Just like the animals they help save, these two surprise gifts were going a long way.

"Every dollar is another way for us to be able to feed our animals and provide medical care and to rescue them from the streets and, ultimately, find them a home," Bank said.
