DETROIT -- The Michigan Humane Society is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for brutally disfiguring a Rottweiler.

The dog was found on Detroit's Southwest Side on Tuesday after a concerned citizen called the humane society.

The dog's nose and ears were viciously removed. He was also found with lacerations to his tail and back legs.

One of the society's lead cruelty investigators said "it appears that someone purposely maimed this poor dog, which has caused it a great deal of suffering."

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Michigan Humane Society.
