JAMAICA, Queens (WPVI) -- She was found in the worst of conditions, but now thanks to an NYPD officer a puppy has a happy future ahead of her.

Back on Friday, September 30th, Police Officer Joshua Sailor from the 113th Precinct came across an emaciated 8-month-old pit bull.

She was found at an abandoned building near Farmers Boulevard in Jamaica, Queens.

The dog was chained behind a fence with little room to move.

Once she was freed, she ran right to Officer Sailor!

Officer Sailor said that he knew right then and there that he had to adopt her and he did!

Now the puppy, named Mila, has recovered from her injuries and is off to live a new life with Officer Sailor.
