PENN'S LANDING (WPVI) -- Philadelphia Police rescued a deer from the Delaware River near Penn's Landing.

It happened Thursday evening.

Action News is told the department's Marine Unit happened to be in the area when officers spotted the deer struggling in the water.

They pulled the animal into the boat.

It was later checked out, determined to be in good health and freed.
