Donations have been pouring in for an abandoned and abused pitbull who was rescued by New Jersey shelter.

STANTON, N.J. (WPVI) -- Donations have been pouring in for an abandoned and abused pitbull who was rescued by New Jersey shelter.

Action News first told you about a severely abused dog named Brutus last week.

The 1-year-old pitbull had been dropped off at "Response-A-bull" rescue in Stanton.

He had a heavy chain around his neck and a shattered back leg, which had to be amputated.

But when Action News viewers heard that the non-profit was struggling to pay for the surgery, the donations flooded in.

The rescue says Brutus is now recovering well in foster care, waiting for adoption.

They also wanted to thank our viewers for helping to save this happy, friendly boy.
