A girl gets her wish when her family adopts a dog for the very first time.

Alex Giongo has wanted a dog for as long as she could remember.

"I actually started putting up shelter pups on this little white board we have so my mom would get the hint," said Alex.

Her mom, Marie, finally caved when she met Winnie.

"She was just the cutest little puppy, sometimes you just know, and we knew she was the one," said Marie.

And six years later, the family wouldn't be the same without her.

"We'll wake up in the morning, she's right there for breakfast. She goes to bed with us. We love her," said Alex.

Marie added, "She knows her place, she knows she belongs. She's a member of the family."

The Giongo family adopted Winnie from All 4 Paws, a foster based rescue.

Kristen Geddes is the Executive Director and Founder of All 4 Paws.

She said, "We rescue animals from high kill shelters. They move into foster homes until they wait for their forever homes."

Since their inception in 2009 they have found homes for over 7000 dogs.

"It's incredibly rewarding. There's nothing like seeing these animals become the center of a family. It's awesome," said Kristen.

Five-year-old, Spock, doesn't need the Enterprise, just a loving home.

"He's great, he's super friendly, obviously, typical lab. Loves everybody. He's housebroken, crate trained, and would love a family," said Kristen.

Negan is a two-year-old Boxer mix.

Kristen says, "He's a big Teddy Bear, Likes other dogs, he was fine with the cats he met. He's good with kids. He's just a love bug."

Badger is a Great Pyrenees and prefers a home with a fenced in yard.

"He's obviously gorgeous. He is good with other dogs. Loves to run around outside and check things out," said Kristen.

And finally, meet Goldie, a two-year-old Boxer-Shepherd mix. She was rescued from a high kill shelter. She loves kids, cats and other dogs. And she would make the perfect family pet.
