Owner of Dogtown, Jennifer Joseph says, "We're a village and can't do it without the village."

Dogtown has been a popular retail and boarding shop for seven years, but after adopting a dog form "ACT' in Philadelphia, Jennifer decided they could do even more.

"Once I went there and saw how much help they needed and how overrun they are with strays...of course I wanted to help," Jennifer said.

Since opening their adoption center in April of 2013, Dogtown has saved more than 350 dogs.

"We try to only pull dogs locally. Philadelphia's not that far from us in our own backyard and dogs are dying every day," said Jennifer.

Adopting from Dogtown has its perks, including discounts on toys and boarding. And, the business side of the organization is what makes the compassion possible.

Jennifer says, "The more items we sell in the shop, the more lives we can save in the shelter."
