OCEAN CITY, N.J. (WPVI) -- In this week's Shelter Me, we take a look at a foster-based rescue that's dedicated to pulling strays off the streets and finding them loving homes.

That's the mission of the Purrfect Paws Rescue in Drexel Hill, Pa., where cats found on the street become family.

"It's one cat at a time. When one gets adopted, it's a celebration for me," said president Donna Interrante.

Donna founded the rescue 11 years ago after 20 years of volunteering for other shelters.

"It's a journey of love, that's what it is," she said.

The rescue places what they call "friendly strays" into homes.

"They need to be socialized. That's how they become great pets," Donna said.

And for the feral population, they trap, neuter and return, a practice known as TNR.

"It really does benefit the community, we stop that population growth," Donna said.

Purrfect Paws has adoption centers at Petsmart in Broomall and Plymouth Meeting, and Petco in Wynnewood.
