Shelter Me: To Love a Canine Rescue

After searching for the perfect fit, a family found their match at To Love a Canine Rescue.

Daelyn Shepsko adopted Trudy in June of 2015.

"She's a pure bred mutt, and we love her for all of it," said Daelyn.

Trudy Louis has plenty of puppy energy.

In her new home, she's the baby in a pack of four.

"We have 3 dogs all over the age of 8. One is a senior lab. We just knew that it needed to be an appropriate fit for our guys," said Daelyn.

Daelyn scoured hundreds of adoptable animals before meeting Trudy.

"It was just instant, I just knew it absolutely immediately. It was like she'd been there for our entire lives," said Daelyn.

To Love a Canine Rescue made the adoption possible.

Tracy Long, the Executive Director, To Love a Canine said, "We are an all breed, no kill rescue."

TLC has found more than a thousand dogs homes since starting the foster based rescue in 2013. Their success is a product of their work in the community.

"We've done food drives for local food pantries, and we've done glove and hat drives for kids. We have a huge junior volunteer program which is called our mini paws and to date, we have over 150 kids involved," said Tracy.

All the work is part of the mission to find rescued dogs forever homes.

Tracy added, "We love what we do. It's a lot of work, a lot of time given. And, you know its all volunteers, and we have a great team."
