LANDENBERG, Pa. (WPVI) -- This week's winning rescue group in 6abc's Shelter Me Contest is TreeTops Animal Rescue in Landenberg, Pennsylvania.

"It's so great to get them out of the shelter atmosphere, get them into a foster home and be able to really show their true colors. And it's easier to get them adopted once they are out of the stress of a shelter as well," said Megan West, foster parent and volunteers at TreeTops Animal Rescue.

TreeTops Animal Rescue saves animals from shelters and places them into foster homes until they find their forever home.

"Alright so there's probably, normally at any given time, around five to ten foster dogs and some cats as well. And throughout the year we probably adopt out probably 60 to 80 different animal," said West.

Each October, they pair with the Mummers in South Philly to help raise money and awareness

"We do a lot of fundraisers throughout the year. One of our biggest fundraisers is 'Save the Mums and Muts.' We pair with the mummers in South Philly and we do a fundraiser with them. It's really excellent, we get dogs adopted and we raise some money," said West.

In just the past five years, they have been able to raise over $50,000.

"And those funds help us get these animals fixed, give them their shots, give them the healthcare they need. Sometimes they need surgeries, eye surgery or we had a dog once that was shot and it had to get surgery for its wounds. And that's every day - there's a dog that needs more help so with the funding we're able to help those dogs that need the special care.," said West.

Malcom is a love bug who would be a great companion dog.

"He would definitely be a great dog for someone that's looking for a dog - maybe their only dog. Maybe they live alone, maybe they just want a dog to cuddle with them and to love them," said West.

Then there's Buddy.

"Buddy is 11 years old and he is wonderful with every living thing - people, kids, dogs, other cats," said West.

Lavender can be shy at first but is a sweetheart deep down.

"She is very sweet but takes some time to warm up to new people, especially men. She takes some time to warm up with kids, she's great with other dogs. She just needs a home where people are willing to give her the time to come out of her shell a little bit," said West.

Patty is a smart dog who is very active.

"She's good with older kids, she's good with people, she's great with other dogs that are playful and wanna play with her. Cuddle bug, she's a big cuddle bug," said West.

Sienna is an 8-year-old Beagle. If you would like to adopt Sienna or any of the other animals you've seen you can go to the TreeTops Animal Rescue website.
