WOODBURY, N.J. (WPVI) -- The planets aligned when Kathy Jaggard fostered a dog named Neptune.

She had no idea he would become the center of her universe.

She adopted Neptune in January 2016.

"My granddaughter fell in love with him, and I thought well, you know, this is a good thing to try." said Kathy.

She took Neptune from a malnourished pup to a well-trained 2-year old.

"I take him to dog parks and I take him to fields and let him run," said Kathy.

Choosing to foster has changed both Kathy's and Neptune's world for the better.

Kathy says, "I have actually made several friends by taking him to an area with other dogs."

Kathy adopted Neptune from the West Jersey Volunteers for Animals almost a year ago.

Iris Brown is the Director and Vice President, West Jersey Volunteers for Animals.

She said, "We are just so fortunate that Kathy offered to foster him and it couldn't be a better match."

West Jersey Volunteer for Animals is a foster based rescue dedicated to rescuing animals from overcrowded shelters.

"Any place you can save a life as far as I'm concerned is important," said Iris.

Now they are trying to find a home for Sadie, a one-year-old hound mix, who would love a home with another dog.

Chris Wilson, a foster mom says, "She's a real love bug. She's housebroken, crate trained. She's learning her commands."

Sammy is a Jack Russel mix who stands tall on three legs.

"She the most lovable dog, she can do anything that regular dogs with 4 legs can do," said Courtney Aman, foster mom.

Rocco is a Shepard mix and loves to pass the time playing fetch.

Shari Allen a foster mom says "Rocco has a really really good heart and a sweet soul."

He's 8-years-old and would enjoy a home with no kids

Shari adds, "He's just a really sweet dog that just needs a chance. And we're hoping somebody out there would be patient enough and want to give him one."

And finally, meet Shay. Shay is a one and a half year old pit mix as you can see she's super friendly and loves attention. She walks great on a leash and enjoys playing with her toys.
