NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Pennsylvania SPCA officers made a surprise discovery while investigating a North Philadelphia man for animal cruelty.
Officials found two alligators at the home of 40-year-old Tyler Carl on Friday night when they searched his home.
Carl was being investigated after he allegedly abandoned two sick dogs at the PSPCA headquarters this week.
Authorities say the dogs were flea-infested and had skin infections on their bodies.
The alligators, which were being kept as pets illegally, will be transferred to a sanctuary while the dogs are receiving medical treatment.
Tyler faces animal cruelty charges.
