2 men in critical condition in separate Philadelphia shootings

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police are investigating two violent crimes that left two men in critical condition.

Three men in dark clothing attacked a man at 54th Street and Warrington Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia around midnight Thursday, police said.

Police said the 30-year-old victim tried to run away when approached by the men, but he was shot in the back and pistol whipped.

The robbers went through the man's pockets, but police said nothing was taken.

Around the same time, a 31-year-old man was shot at 63rd and Lebanon Avenue in the Overbrook section of the city.

Police said the victim was shot in the head. He was rushed to the hospital.

There is no word on a suspect in this case.
