VIDEO: DNC final preps underway
The kickoff for the Democratic National Convention is just hours away.

SOUTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The kickoff for the Democratic National Convention is just hours away.

After months and months of planning, Monday is the day.

The Action Cam was on the floor of the Wells Fargo Center floor in South Philadelphia.

It was relatively quiet this morning, but by afternoon, lots of sound checks were taking place.

The placards are already there for all the states, including the home states of Hillary Clinton, and her running mate, Tim Kaine respectively.

A number of speakers are set to take the podium this week on the main stage.

Tonight, we expect to hear from Bernie Sanders, and first lady Michelle Obama.

Also speaking are senators, Corey Booker from New Jersey, and Elizabeth Warren from Massachusetts.

Over the weekend, the last minute preparations were well underway.

Singer Paul Simon did a sound check on Sunday, and sung "Bridge Over Troubled Water."

People stopped by to snap pictures, and have some fun mid all the hard work.

This is the results of months of planning, and transforming the home of the Flyers and Sixers into the main stage of the DNC.

Five hundred workers came to build the stage in a week.

You can see from the ceiling, bundles and bundles of red, white and blue patriotic balloons.

Security personnel are combing things over.

Media from all over the world are setting up and going live.

We're just roughly four hours until the first gavel drops.

Young Philadelphia singer Bobby Hill, who sang for the Pope, will be singing the National Anthem!

"I'm just so excited to have this opportunity, and just be at a historical convention, and see Hillary Clinton nominated, he said."

Right there with him, every step of the way are his proud parents close by on the floor.

His mom, Karla Hill said, "He has the support of his whole family. He's going to do well, and just do what brought you here."

He knows his parents played a huge role in that.

"I'd just like to thank them for everything they've done for me my whole life," said Bobby.

No bigger stage than this for the young man.

But also likely no bigger stage has ever been set for DNC.

The final touches underway, right before the 4 p.m. kickoff.
