VIDEO: Locals react to second debate
The Republican Women of Philadelphia hosted a watch party for the second GOP debate Wednesday.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- It was a Republican slug fest during round two of the GOP debate Wednesday night.

Topics included foreign affairs, specifically the Iran Nuclear Deal, and how to deal with Russia and ISIS.

Current politicians defended their voting records, and Bush challenged Trump's take on immigration while defending his father and brother's tenure in office.

At Cavanaugh's Bar, locals turned out for the Republican Women of Philadelphia's watch party.

While many anticipated the debate to turn into the "Trump show," viewers said they were pleasantly surprised to see the other candidates step up.

"Certain candidates are standing out," said Matt Wolfe of West Philadelphia." I think Rubio is standing out, I think Carly Fiorina is certainly standing out."

One of the highlights of the night came when Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina took the opportunity to respond to Trump's comments last week about her face.

"I definitely think Carly Fiorina has some good ideas, and Trump is being Trump," said Barbara Coxe of Rittenhouse.

Those in attendance agreed there are too many candidates on the stage, and it could potentially hurt the party's message.

"Other candidates realize that they must seize the stage as well and the stage does not belong necessarily to Donald Trump," said Al Taubenberger, a Republican city hall candidate.

There are more than 11 candidates vying for the GOP nomination, but only the ones who placed highest in the polls were placed in the primary debate.

There were four others in a debate that aired two hours earlier.
