Mike Pence reacts to Clinton email news in Bucks Co.

BENSALEM, Pa. (WPVI) -- Republican vice presidential candidate Mike Pence addressed the news about Clinton-related emails during a campaign stop in Bucks County on Friday.

The FBI said it was investigating Clinton-related emails discovered during an investigation into Anthony Weiner.

Donald Trump's running mate made the comments about five minutes after he started speaking at a factory in Bensalem.

"The director of the FBI, James Comey, this afternoon, just sent a letter to the Congress reopening the investigation against Hillary Clinton and her private email server, he said.

The crowd went wild.

Though Clinton still leads polls by five to seven percent in this battleground state, Republicans had already been buoyed by hearing online aggregator Real Clear Politics still considers Pennsylvania a toss-up. Pennsylvania is a must win for the GOP.

Pence told the faithful he and Trump commend the FBI for investigating the newly discovered emails.

"We call on the FBI to immediately release all the email pertinent to their reopened investigation. The American people have a right to know, and they have a right to know before Election Day," he said.

As they exited the rally, the fired up Trump/ Pence supporters clearly upbeat about the FBI announcement.

"It's good news because you guys, the liberal media, always covered these things up, and it's about time you guys tell the truth," said Howard Smilowitz.

When asked if he thought the news could sway the election to Trump's advantage, Edward Young of Brick, N.J., said "I wish it had happened a few weeks ago."

"Is this Comey's last-minute apology to America for selling us down the river?" he continued. "It takes a lot of time for facts to settle into the heads of the American public. I hope it will, it should."

Mike Pence also saluted first-responders around the United States by referencing the work of police and firefighters after his campaign plane skidded off the runway in New York City.

He told crowd that emergency personnel "rushed to our plane site almost before the plane stopped rolling."

The first responders surrounded Pence's campaign plane Thursday night, after it landed hard on a rainy runway at LaGuardia Airport and slid sideways onto the grass.

No one was injured, and a calm Pence walked back to the press cabin moments later to say he was fine.

His campaign used a different plane to get to Pennsylvania.
