VIDEO: Tom Wolf campaign reacts to latest poll
Wolf's visit comes as a new poll shows big head start on Corbett.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Tom Wolf was in town Wednesday for his first campaign stop since winning the Democratic primary for Governor, and his visit comes just as a new poll shows he has a big head start on incumbent Tom Corbett.

This was Tom Wolf's first campaign foray into vote-rich southeastern Pennsylvania since he won the primary.

He toured a toy manufacturing plant in Montgomery County pitching his plan for bringing jobs to Pennsylvania.

But the buzz today was about the latest Quinnipiac University poll, which shows the Democratic nominee still holding a 20-point lead over Governor Corbett - Wolf 53%, Corbett 33%, with a 3% margin of error.

That is the same lead Wolf held when matched up with Corbett back in the winter.

To downplay the good news, the low-keyed Wolf quoted a former football coach at the University of Pittsburgh.

"Johnny Majors used to always say, whether they were winning a game or not, that, 'We're always losing.' I'm down two points, and I'm working hard and I'm going to work hard right through November," Wolf said.

Governor Corbett was in Philadelphia today for the Lewis Katz memorial service. His spokesman, Bill Pitman, said it would not be appropriate for him to talk politics today, but released this statement from the Corbett camp:

"It is June and there is plenty of time for our campaign to make up ground. We will also be introducing voters to the real Tom Wolf ... We hope Tome Wolf enjoys his lead now, because the race in many ways has just begun."

The statement is a clear sign that things are going to get rough and tumble for the general election campaign in the fall.
