BLACKWOOD, N.J. (WPVI) -- There's a new place to shop in South Jersey.

They cut the ribbon Thursday morning on the much-anticipated Gloucester Premium Outlets.

And a lot of people were on hand when the doors opened. And shoppers didn't want to miss a minute.

This Simon premium outlet center offers more than 376,000 square feet of shopping, courtyards, covered walkways, fire pits - and of course a lot of stores, with savings of 25-65 percent a day.

"This is the largest economic development project the in townships history," said Gloucester Twp. Mayor David Mayer, that has created "not only 800 retail jobs, but 300 construction jobs."

Shoppers were out scoping the deals Thursday morning, but they also wanted to check out the grounds and be here for the first-day festivities.

Hilda Smith just got off a plane from North Carolina to spend a day with her sisters throwing money at the local economy. This was the first stop.

There will be extended hours over the next few days for the grand opening: 10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday.
