KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. (WPVI) -- The King of Prussia Mall is in the midst of a massive expansion. They allowed Action News to tour the newly connected corridor to see how things are coming along.

They broke ground on the expansion about a year ago and officials say they are nearly halfway there.

With hard hats on, the tour kicked off in what will be a brand new space at the mall.

The mall had been spilt into two separate buildings - King of Prussia Plaza and King of Prussia Court.

But now the final pieces of steel have been laid to connect the two so customers won't have to walk outside anymore.

The new connection is the equivalent of four football fields.

When construction is complete the mall will be 170,000 square feet bigger bringing 50 new stores, new restaurants, a marketplace featuring celebrity chefs.

At least 20 of the new stores will be true luxury brands, including 15 new to the Philadelphia market.

Some of the retailers announced Tuesday include CH Carolina Herrera, Robert Graham, Clarins, Vince, and Stuart Weitzman.

And the old parking deck has been taken down with anew state-of-the-art parking deck going up.

"We're creating a 1,000 car state of the art parking deck, escalators, valet, and direct access into the new retail connection," said David Contis, President of Simon Malls.

The new King of Prussia Mall connector is set to open August 2016.
