CHERRY HILL, N.J. (WPVI) -- Super Saturday was in full effect at Cherry Hill Mall, and shoppers tell us the competition began before they even walked in the door.

"I was circling around for 30 minutes actually trying to find a space," said Charise Browning of Blackwood, New Jersey.

A packed parking lot meant long lines once shoppers got inside.

"If you don't have patience, you're gonna lose your mind in 30 seconds," said Tyler Brosious of Mount Laurel, New Jersey.

The Pellegrimo's had no choice but to start their Christmas shopping Saturday.

"Mostly for his family because we didn't want to ship everything so we are last-minute shopping for everybody," said Faie Pellegrimo.

Like many, Brosious did most of his shopping online and stopped by the mall to pick up one last gift.

"I'm shocked there's this many people. In this day and age, you already see online sales go crazy," said Brosious. "To think what else could these people need that they're not buying online?"

A recent survey found it's not all bad news for brick and mortar retailers.

Store sales are up this year by about 2 percent, but online sales have surged more than 4.5 percent.

For many, Saturday was a time to pick up gifts that may not ship in time.

But for others like Gary Hamilton, it was an opportunity to just stroll the mall with his grandson.

"It's a day out with him and I, that's all," said Hamilton of Atco, New Jersey. "Yea I'm out there with the other lunatics. Haha."
