Last-minute shoppers fill area stores
Last-minute shoppers fill area stores: Jeannette Reyes reports during Action News at 12:30 p.m. on December 19, 2017.

WYNNEFIELD HEIGHTS (WPVI) -- It is the final stretch. For last-minute shoppers, the countdown to Christmas is on, and so is the pressure.

We caught up with Brenda Andrews of Tacony on her way into the Toys R Us store in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia.

She got a list, checked it twice - and Tuesday she was adding to it. She told Action News with eight grandchildren the shopping never ends.

"I work for the school district. I work hard. So I have a lot of other children," she said. . "God has blessed me, so I want to bless my family."

She and Jennifer Saier were pleasantly surprised to find deals on many of the toys, like buy one, get one 30-50 percent off on dolls, Disney princesses, all video games and Crackle products.

For Saier it was an all-around win.

"I found exactly what I was looking for," she said. "I was surprised I didn't even have to ask for help."

Over at Target in Wynnefield Heights we found grandparents Emmitt and Katie Brayboy - though one of them wasn't exactly there by choice.

"I'm being held hostage," said Emmitt. "I'm just the support system. I have no choice at all. But I'm here."

So here's some advice if you've waited until the last minute:

Make a list and categorize it. If you know you are shopping for kids, make a kids list.

If you're shopping for family make a family or home list or kitchen list.

And if you're still looking for a gift for that person who's hard to please, try giving them a gift card.

Many stores including Target will be clearing out their stores with specials to get ready for the new season.

They will have sales on everything from toys to electronics the day after Christmas.
