Linda's Stuff - Online consignment giant based in the Delaware Valley

HATBORO, Pa. (WPVI) -- If you've ever dreamed of owning your own business, let Linda Lightman be your inspiration.

15 years ago Linda sold her kids' old video games on eBay, then her own designer duds. Today she has a consignment business that does $25 million in annual sales, occupies a 72,000 square foot warehouse in Hatboro, Montgomery County, and employs 110 people right here in the Delaware Valley.

This former attorney gets her "stuff" from individual consignors like you and me. But also from major retailers and designers. They send brand new stuff with tags, as well as luxury items.

"We can either send someone to their house to pick it up if they're local, or if they're not local, we send UPS to their home. We either email them a label or send UPS with a pre-printed label," she explained.

Linda accepts luxury items in all kinds of categories: Clothing, shoes, accessories.

"Home goods. We have a builder who just sent us a sink and a window," Linda said.

Linda picks up the cost of shipping. And what does she pay?

She tells us, "Whoever consigns with me is our partner. The more they get, the more we get, and we really pay the most in the industry. So for items that sell for under $1,000, a consignor will get 62 percent of that sale and they pay none of the eBay fees, none of the PayPal fees."

And commissions are on a sliding scale. So if your item sells for more than $1,000, you'll get an even higher commission.

The consignment term is a year and all items are checked for authenticity.

Linda's warehouse is about to get even bigger. She is expanding to 93,000 square feet.

And it's a family business. Linda's husband is the president, and one of their sons is vice president of business development.
