VIDEO: Save while shopping for Turkey Day
The countdown to Turkey Day is ON!

If you are doing some last minute Turkey Day shopping, or just getting started... wait! Here are a few ways to save on a spread fit for a feast.

First, let's talk turkey. If you haven't qualified for a free one at your supermarket, shopping expert Laurin Mills says you can get a bird for as little as 70 cents a pound. In which case, the big entertaining expenses come with the side dishes.

For that keep it simple. Don't make a dozen side dishes. Instead, focus on a few really delicious ones that everyone will want extras of.

If you are on a budget, avoid fancy recipes that call for high ticket items like exotic mushrooms, oysters and the like.

Don't shop without coupons! Mills says the manufacturers themselves - like Butterball or Stouffers - often offer the best ones. So check their websites before you hit the store.

For wine you will save if you buy by the case. Use the extra bottles, if you have any, for the other winter holidays or present them as gifts.

Finally, for decorations, it won't save you time, but you will save money using the real dishes and napkins.
