Time to save with 6abc and we're going to make a savings detective out of you!

You are going to need to do some sleuthing, but here's how to crack the retail code to score the best deals at stores.

Shopping guru Kyle James is the brains behind Rather-Be-Shopping.com, a website devoted to online coupons.

He says most of the clues you need are actually embedded in the price tags at some of the nation's most popular retailers.

At Home Depot, a yellow tag means it's a clearance item.

At many stores, he says the key to savings is found in the last two digits of the price.

For example, at Home Depot, prices ending in .06 mean 6 weeks until the next markdown and .03 means 3 weeks, the chain's best deal!

At target, prices ending in .98, .88, .04 and .24 indicate clearance items..

To know how much it's slashed off the original price, there's a teeny number in the upper right hand corner that clues you in.

At Costco, items ending in .99 are full price. If it ends in .97, it's a mark down and, if it has an asterisk, it's clearance.
