Swagbucks Local: Rewards for spending
Swagbucks Local: Rewards for spending. Alicia Vitarelli reports during Action News at 4:30 p.m. on July 24, 2017.

If you love to dine out, happy hour, and coffee bars, there's an app that claims to get you money back just by doing the things you love and the things you spend big on.

You may be familiar with a website/app called Swagbucks.

Well, in a few select cities including Philadelphia, they just launched Swagbucks Local.

Basically, you get rewarded for spending money at its partnered vendors.

And for every Swagbuck you earn, you earn gift cards to places like Amazon, Target, Starbucks and Walmart.

Curious?

Our friends at the Penny Hoarder tipped us off to this and here's how it works.

You download the app and connect your credit or debit card.

When you dine at local restaurants, buy coffee, or grab drinks at a bar, if they're on the list, once you pay, your points get loaded in.

Link as many cards as you would typically use as payment.

You don't have to do a thing; the payment type will be recognized and automatically reward you and load your account.

You can search within the app to find out which establishments are on board and participate in local Swagbucks.

Can't argue with free money especially when it's for doing what you were doing anyway!
