PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Lisa Thomas-Laury explains in this week's Art of Aging the services available to seniors.

The Philadelphia Corporation for Aging runs a helpline that covers the gamut, from services like home repairs and meal delivery to filing reports of elder abuse and financial scams.

Holly Lange, President and CEO of PCA says "The senior helpline is actually the hub of everything that goes on at PCA. It's the first place where older people, their families, and in fact, professionals from hospitals or home health agencies can turn to find out information for their loved ones."

Chris Gallagher, Director of PCA Helpline added, "We handle over 400 calls per day, everything from "can I have the phone number to my nearest senior center" to " I really need help to stay out of a nursing home."

The helpline is multi-lingual and doubles as the city's heat line in the summer.

"These can be seniors who were pillars in the community, veterans, people like that, that really need to be taken care of," said Gallagher.

The PCA help line is 215-765-9040.

The agency also answers questions online at Philadelphia Corporation of Aging.
