GERMANTOWN (WPVI) -- A group of seniors has found a way to stay in shape and have lots of fun too in Philadelphia's Germantown section.

At Treasures Banquet Hall on Germantown Avenue, Sunday night is the night to dress up and get down to some old school R&B.

Mel Congleton and Diane Baldi-Congleton of Fairview, New Jersey love the atmosphere.

Diane tells us, "We come here because of the atmosphere, we come because of all of our comrades and friends, and family."

Action News spoke with several Philadelphia residents who spend their Sundays at Treasures.

Bill Hayes says, "It's like an elixir...being on the dance floor is rejuvenating to me and dancing is a heritage I'm trying to pass it down."

Fans of the music and the camaraderie, the dancers range in age from 50 to 90, and turn out every week.

Joe and Carolyn Lockett are also participants.

Joe says, "Great for the cardio. You dance from 7:00 p.m. until midnight. Think about it."

"Just to keep moving is so important. And I tell other people, if you don't want to do anything else, get out and dance," said Esther Hawthorne.

Treasures turns into a clubhouse on Sunday night - for memories, old friends and familiar tunes.

"I meet all my friends here. We all get together on Sundays," said Patricia Smith.

Anthony Banks added, "It's our same age group, they love the music, there's nothing better. It's just the camaraderie and everything else that goes with it, makes it so good."

"It's in my DNA and I just love it," said Pat Fisher.

"I look forward to Sundays, 'cause those are dress up days for me," said Patricia Smith.
