NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia is continuing to make the roads safer for cyclists.
Friday Mayor Jim Kenney and other lawmakers cut the ribbon on Philadelphia's first 2-way parking protected bike lanes.
Cyclists are protected and separated from moving vehicles by parked cars in North Philadelphia.
This mile long stretch is along Ryan Avenue near Abraham Lincoln High School.
Mayor Kenney says this is a start, and he hopes to create more protected bike lanes across the city.
