Have a Heart Foundation fights for patient rights
Heading to Washington, D.C. to teach lawmakers about the right to try for terminally ill patients

NEWTOWN, Pa. (WPVI) -- A Bucks County-based foundation is getting ready to head to Washington, D.C. to teach lawmakers about the right to try for terminally ill patients.

The laws let people try experimental therapies that have completed a first phase of testing but have not been approved by the FDA.

The Have a Heart Foundation talked about their mission Tuesday at the Newtown Athletic Club.

A group of supporters is scheduled to testify at a Senate hearing on Thursday.
