New teacher orientation
Philadelphia's new teachers are already back in the classroom

NORTHEAST PHILADELHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia's new teachers are already back in the classroom.

600 teachers and counselors are taking part in the week long orientation program.

The Action Cam was at the Arts Academy at Benjamin Rush in the Torresdale section of the city as things got started Monday morning.

Superintendent Williams Hite says this orientation is a great resource for educators. "This week is going to be about 3 things. It's going to be about connecting with new individuals who are doing the same work, sharing in the success and challenges and the opportunities, and growing and growing as teachers and growing as leaders and growing as individuals who have the responsibility of educating young people."

Kids still have a few more weeks of summer to enjoy.

Most public school students go back to school on September 5th.

Kindergarten starts a week later on September 12th.
