Newlyweds inviting friends along on their 'buddymoon'
Newlyweds inviting friends along on their 'buddymoon'. Alicia Vitarelli reports during Action News at 4:30 p.m. on May 16, 2017.

Honeymoons are a special time for lovebirds fresh off their wedding vows to soak in some one-on-one time as they start their lives together.

But that's so last year.

Apparently the new trend is to keep the party going and invite your friends along.

It's called a "buddymoon."

A new report from Priceline showed about 12% of the couples surveyed say they've organized or attended a group honeymoon in the past five years.

Conde Nast Traveler confirms the new phenomenon, saying celebrities have been doing it and it's catching on.

A few more reasons they're picking up steam: more couples are living together before they get married and weddings today are becoming more relaxed.
