WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- Two of America's recently recognized military combat heros were honored Friday in Wilmington.

The names of Melvin Morris and Henry Johnson were added to the nationally recognized African American Medal of Honor Monument in Brandywine Park.

Morris received the Medal of Honor from President Barack Obama in 2014.

Last summer Johnson was awarded the Medal of Honor in a posthumous ceremony at the White House.

Both were recognized for saving men's lives.

"Today you are recognizing me and i'm overwhelmed, overjoyed, i'm thankful. There are not enough words to express ourselves".

Melvin Morris was a Staff Sergeant during the Vietnam War.

Johnson fought in World War one and was buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
