Be careful whom you prank on April Fools' Day, they might just turn it around right back at you. One teen learned this the hard way when her boyfriend had an unexpected reaction to her prank.

Hayleigh McBay thought it would be funny to message her boyfriend David that she didn't want to be together any longer. The last response she was expecting from him was "Thank god you said it first."

McBay seemed shocked. "So you don't want to be with me?" she asked.

"Nah :/" was all David had to say in return.

McBay posted a screenshot of the exchange to Twitter with the caption, "Well my April Fools backfired."

Before you start feeling too sorry for the 17-year-old, she later posted an update explaining that the joke had really been on her. David had guessed her stunt was just a joke and had decided to respond with a joke of his own.
