Teaching excellence

DOVER, DEL. (WPVI) -- A second grade teacher is Delaware's 2017 State Teacher of the Year.

Wendy Turner teaches second grade at Mount Pleasant Elementary in the Brandywine School District.

She will receive a five thousand dollar grant for the classroom, and an additional five thousand dollars for personal use.

She says she strives to make learning relevant to life outside the classroom.
