Teaching history by becoming history

NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- History came to life for some adorable 3rd graders at a school in Northeast Philadelphia Wednesday.

Kids researched their favorite figure and made their own costumes at St. Martha's school.

There was Amelia Earhart complete with her airplane and Pope Francis.

American leaders George Washington and Ben Franklin, and a delightful Johnny Appleseed with a pot on his head! Fun!
