The jazz age on the Delaware is a lawn party with a roarin' 20s theme and held at the Glen Foerd Mansion.

Meg Sharp Walton is the Executive Director of the Glen Foerd on the Delaware.

She told Action News that, "We're totally going 1920s all the way."

The Glen Foerd Mansion is part of Philadelphia's Fairmount Park System and it was built in 1850.

There will be tours of the mansion which includes more than a century of history.

"It is a last surviving gilded age mansion in the city of Philadelphia," says Sharp Walton.

And of course, party-goers will need to look the part.

Sharp Walton says, "We encourage people to dress in the 1920s, but also some people take it very seriously. They're very specific right down to the glasses that they're wearing."

There will also be vendors selling 1920's memorabilia.

The tunes will take you back nearly 100 years.

And, because there is so much history in music, Drew Nugent, the band leader of Midnight Society told us, "I think it's just as important as the music itself."

That history will be on display with live music all day. And, played on authentic instruments, like a grand piano. There will be dance classes to show you how to recreate the roarin' 20s party scene.

The Charleston is just one of the dances that will make you look the part.

"Jay Gatsby would absolutely love to be here and party. I'm sure he would come and enjoy the event, and have a good time," said Sharp Walton.

Jazz Age on the Delaware is August 1st from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

You can watch FYI Philly on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday at midnight on Channel 6.
