VIDEO: WWII vet in West Philly celebrates 100th birthday

WEST PHILADELPHIA -- A West Philadelphia family gathered Wednesday night for a special birthday for their patriarch.

Richard Hightower celebrated his 100th birthday.

He was surrounded by his extended family - his loving wife Isabelle and his brother, who turned 94 last week.

The World War Two veteran is the 11th of 14 children.

During his service, Hightower received five Bronze stars, a Purple Heart and an American Defense Service award.
