One local player is making quite the statement showing that big things can come in small packages.

"My name is Felicia Perez. I attend Brandywine High School. I'm 4'8, weigh 130 pounds, and I play football," Perez said.

The pint sized powerhouse from Delaware has been changing the perception of the male dominated sport.

"Doesn't matter if I'm a boy or a girl. It matters if I'm part of the team or not. And I think that's probably the best part about football," Perez said.

What she lacks in size she makes up for in attitude.

"All I want to do is hit," Perez said.

On game day, you can see her play both sides of the ball leading the charge as fullback on offense and tackling the competition slotted as middle linebacker.

"I've never felt like an outsider," Perez said.

"Felicia's pretty special. Number one, she does play a position most girls don't play," Bulldogs head coach Isaiah Mayes said. "It's a story to some people, but, you know, it's Felicia to us."

Mayes has seen his fair share of female kickers and safeties, but he has never coached someone like Felicia before.

"Felicia's not afraid. She's not scared. And she's prepared for anything she's got to face. So we love it," Mayes said.

Perez has been rocking shoulder pads since 6th grade.

"I guess growing up, I had the tougher skin than everybody else," Perez said.

She attributes her love of the game to her father who always treated Felicia just like one of her brothers.

"Whether it was high school, college, NFL, it was always on the TV," Perez said.

Last season it was Felicia's appearance that had people talking, but now it's her performance on the field.

"This year, it's nothing new. They all know who I am. They all know I am ready to play," Perez said.

The bulldog's season might be over, but Felicia is ready for her senior year.

"Whole new schedule, whole new teams. I think we've got this one in the bag next year," Perez said.
