PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- It's almost impossible to believe but the Flyers are winless to start the season again.
"It sucks obviously but it's nothing we can do about it now. It's behind us, we just have to focus on what's in front of us and keep going forward," said Wayne Simmonds, Flyers forward.
"I think we're still better than last year. It's a buzzkill though but at least it's better than last yaer," said Jake Voracek, Flyers forward.
Better because at least they've been in all these games and just somehow can't find a way to finish them.
But Coach Craig Berube says that makes it even harder to overcome.
"Mentally draining for them a little bit. I talked to them today and said, 'Listen, you gotta fight through it. Come out tomorrow in practice and work to get better,'" said Berube.
Berube pointed out that this is magnified because it's at the beginning of the season.
If the Flyers had lost two games and salvaged a point in two more in the middle of the season, it would be no big deal.
What is becoming a big deal is their inability to come through in a shootout. They've dropped seven straight dating back to last season
"Could be a little more confident. I mean it can happen - you're not going to score a goal in the shootout Sometimes I think we are too tentative," said Voracek.
There is some good news, Braydon Coburn, who missed three games and was on crutches six days ago, is hoping he can play on Saturday.
"You hate to sit out and watch games. Everybody wants to be in the lineup and playing and my goal is to take it one day at a time and be playing as soon as I can," said Coburn, Flyers defensemen.
And at this point, they'll take any spark they can get.
