Fans get ready for the Eagles preseason opener.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Philadelphia Eagles and their fans are gearing up for the first game of the preseason, as the Birds host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Lincoln Financial Field Thursday night.

And AccuWeather says it's going to be hot.

The rules at the Linc normally prevent fans from bringing in liquids.

But in light of the Excessive Heat Warning that went into effect at noon Thursday, fans will each be allowed to bring in one 16-ounce or smaller, factory-sealed bottle of water.

Modell's Sporting Goods on Chestnut Street in Center City has their Eagles section updated, complete with new players and a Brian Dawkins jersey since the retired bird announced he's back as a member of the scouting staff.

The game will feature a couple of debuts for the Eagles, including Doug Pederson's first outing as the team's head coach, and Carson Wentz's first appearance quarterbacking as an Eagle.

Pederson said he didn't think he'd be able to sleep ahead of the game.

Wentz, who is scheduled to play the second half, after Sam Bradford in the first half, said he plans nothing special. He wants to just go out and play ball.
