PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Philadelphia Flyers goalie Steve Mason will not be in the lineup for the home opener because of a personal family matter.

Genearl Manager Ron Hextall made the announcement Monday morning.

Hextall said there would be no further comment.

This will be the first time Mason has missed a start against the Florida Panthers since being acquired by the Flyers in April of 2013.

He made seven straight starts as a Flyer, going 3-3-1 with a .933 save pct and 2.25 GAA as a Flyer against Florida.

Goalie Michal Neuvirth will get the start tonight for the Flyers.
