PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The Pittsburgh Pirates have agreed to terms on a one-year deal with former Phillies pitcher A.J. Burnett, the team announced Friday.
Burnett posted a 26-21 record and a 3.41 ERA while making 61 starts with the Pirates (2012-13) prior to spending 2014 with the Phillies.
Burnett made a National League high 34 starts and pitched 213.2 innings last season. That ranks 4th among all MLB pitchers in starts since 2008.
He enters 2015 ranked 5th in career wins with 155 and 4th in career starts with 404.
According to FOX Sports reporter Ken Rosenthal, Burnett's agent Darek Braunecker did not negotiate with any other club, per Burnett's instructions. Burnett only wanted to play for Pirates.
