LA Galaxy beat struggling Sounders, Kei Kamara scores to down Crew SC

Robbie Keane scored the only goal as the LA Galaxy won 1-0 on the road at the struggling Seattle Sounders on Saturday.

LA took the lead in the 15th minute when Gyasi Zardes spun away from Zach Scott and crossed for Keane, who scored off the underside of the bar.

Seattle, in last place in the Western Conference, pushed for an equalizing goal in the second half and nearly found it when Jordan Morris rounded LA keeper Brian Rowe, but his shot was cleared off the line by A.J. DeLaGarza.

Clint Dempsey returned to the Sounders after a month away with the United States national team at the Copa America, but he was held without a goal after hitting the post from close range in the 82nd minute.

The Sounders have now lost six of their past eight MLS games, despite beating Real Salt Lake on penalties in the U.S. Open Cup last week and then controlling Premier League side West Ham United 3-0 in a friendly on Tuesday.

Kei Kamara scored against his old team as the New England Revolution beat Columbus Crew SC 3-1 to stop a three-game losing streak.

Lee Nguyen opened the scoring in the third minute for the Revs, chest-trapping a failed clearance and volleying it into the upper-left corner for his fifth goal of the season.

Columbus' Will Trapp scored an own goal on a botched clearance attempt that gave the Revolution a 2-0 lead in the 34th minute.

The Crew got on the board in the 42nd minute when Ola Kamara scored his eighth goal in 11 games.

A pair of Crew SC defenders inadvertently ran into each other in the 71st minute, creating a wide-open look which Kamara easily finished to cap the scoring against the team that traded him in May.

Ilsinho and Roland Alberg scored on first-half penalty kicks, Ilsinho added a second-half goal, and the Philadelphia Union beat 10-man D.C. United 3-0.

Alberg opened the scoring on a penalty in the 20th minute and Ilsinho converted from the spot in the 37th, his first career MLS goal to make it 2-0.

Ilsinho's second goal came in the 47th minute when C.J. Sapong headed Alberg's free kick back into the middle of the area and Ilsinho smashed it into the far corner.

Kofi Opare put United down a man when he was sent off in the 65th minute. He received his first yellow card on a foul against Chris Pontius that led to the first penalty and the second yellow card for a reckless challenge, also against Pontius.

The Union moved within one point of East-leading New York City FC.

Justin Morrow scored in the ninth minute and Toronto FC beat the Chicago Fire 1-0.

Morrow ran onto a through ball from Sebastian Giovinco. The pass perfectly split the Chicago back line and the only player Morrow had to beat was teammate Jordan Hamilton.

Morrow had the better angle to the shot and Hamilton wisely gave way, allowing the defender to score his second of the season.

The win vaults Toronto ahead of two teams and back into the MLS playoff picture in the Eastern Conference with 23 points.

Meanwhile in Utah, Yura Movsisyan's penalty kick tied the game in the 79th minute as Real Salt Lake held on for a 1-1 draw with the Montreal Impact.

The Impact's Calum Mallace tripped Plata as he was attempting a shot in the penalty area and Movsisyan converted with a hard shot from the penalty spot for his sixth goal in 10 games.

Harry Shipp opened the scoring in the eighth minute.. RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando knocked down Laurent Ciman's knuckling free kick and Shipp raced in to finish.

Real Salt Lake had two shots in the final minute, but Montreal goalkeeper Evan Bush preserved the draw with a diving save on Kyle Beckerman's deflected shot.

The Impact improved their unbeaten streak to five games in their only 2016 regular-season meeting with RSL. Each team ended the night in third place in their respective conferences.

Axel Sjoberg scored late in extra time to lift Colorado to a 2-2 draw against the Vancouver Whitecaps, extending the Rapids' unbeaten streak to 13 games.

Sjoberg's goal silenced a sellout crowd of 22,120 at BC Place Stadium after turning Kevin Doyle's cross past Whitecaps goalkeeper David Ousted.

Vancouver's Cristian Techera had scored a penalty kick in the 87th minute to give the Whitecaps a 2-1 lead.

The penalty was awarded after Techera was hauled down from behind in the penalty box by Colorado defender Jared Watts.

Doyle also scored in the 59th minute for Colorado, which has allowed a league-low 13 goals.

Defender Kendall Waston scored in the 10th minute for Vancouver, which moved into a tie with Sporting Kansas City for fifth in the Western Conference.
